The big news of yesterday was the announcement that Andre Roberson would be continuing his rehab away from the team:
Joe Mussatto (The Oklahoman) adds some additional color on Roberson’s rehab with quotes from Billy Donovan. “He can’t get himself back to play, and he just wants to try some other avenues to try to get himself back to play,” Donovan said. “He’s gotten to a point, and he can’t get past that point.”
Erik Horne (The Athletic) quotes Steven Adams, who mentioned another “setback” as the cause for the change in scenery for Roberson. Said Adams, “He wants to play and it’s like another one of these setbacks, you know? For anyone in that situation, it’s not going to be positive. It’s quite frustrating. Especially for him and the duration it’s been, it’s very frustrating. It’s frustrating for everyone around here.”
In lighter news, Wosny Lambre (The Athletic) puts Chris Paul at no. 1 in his latest NBA Style Power Rankings. “We’ve been going crazy over turtlenecks here all season long and CP3’s gray, striped piece is easily our favorite one to date, complemented exquisitely by a navy velvet jacket. The khaki chinos and Travis Scott Jordan IV’s were merely decorative. Paul’s Portland look was last week’s feature presentation. Brown Sherling coat by Coach layered over a crispy blue denim jacket by FRAME. We really appreciate the popped collar on the denim jacket because it’s those little flourishes that define someone’s individual style. Those little tweaks are what make a look unique to you. Shouts to Chris Paul for filling me with nostalgia this week.”
Dorian Craft (USA Today) thinks a Eric Bledsoe for CP3 swap makes sense. “The biggest thing that OKC would get [for trading Paul], however, is the freeing up of their salary cap space. JB Baruelo of Inquisitr adds that trading Paul for Bledsoe would allow the Thunder to move some of their younger talent, like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, into the forefront, ‘focusing on their development.'”
Speaking of Gilgeous-Alexander, Marc Sherman (Sir Charles in Charge/Fansided) says that SGA has excelled as a starter in Oklahoma City. “Not only is the 21-year-old showcasing his star potential and athleticism in his new starting role, but he has also been given the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest minds in all of basketball, Chris Paul.”
