Thunder, Shai hunt history against Clippers

The Thunder play the Clippers tonight with a chance to win a franchise-best 13th straight game and extend their franchise-best start to the season. There's a lot to be excited about for Oklahoma City fans, but SGA's brilliance (36.6 points over his last five games, 4.1 stocks over his last eight) is keeping the winning formula simple: Shai scores, they don't.

Game Info: OKC (27-5) vs. LAC (19-14)

Shai Star

The Thunder begin and end with Shai, and so do these 3 things. He's a lock to be named a starter by the fans, but why not pile on with some more All-Star votes? It'll be another blowout win notched in his 2024-25 belt.

In Shai's Defense

While he does it with the league's most unprecedented bag, Shai's season is becoming familiar: a title contender hoisted to the top by its supernova scorer, supporting him with defense that demoralizes the opposition. What puts him into even more elite company than superstar MVPs? His own contribution to the defense. We could eventually be talking about SGA and the Thunder the way we do LeBron and the Heatles or Jordan and the Bulls.

SGA 4 MVP

No need to nitpick at Jokic or Giannis at this point in the race, because Shai is winning the MVP by making a stronger argument on the strength of his own play. He's leading the league's best defense as the league's most lethal scorer. Anthony Edwards is stating the obvious.

‘Unguardable’ SGA is MVP, Wolves’ Edwards says
After Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points in a 113-105 win over the Wolves, Anthony Edwards described the Thunder star as “unguardable” and called him “the MVP of the NBA.”
