Rex Kalamian promoted to lead assistant?
Fresh off coaching the Thunder at Summer League in Orlando, assistant Rex Kalamian could be getting a promotion.
Per Marc Stein of ESPN.com, Kalamian could be slotted to move up Scott Brooks’ bench and replace Mo Cheeks as the lead assistant.
Cheeks left the Thunder to take the head coaching position with the Pistons. And with him took assistant Maz Trakh as well.
The Thunder hired Robert Pack and Mike Terpstra as replacements on Wednesday.
Kalamian has been with the Thunder four seasons. His primary responsibilities are player development and game preparation. A lot of his focus has also been the Thunder’s offense, which statistically is terrific, but obviously could use some work. Maybe with Kalamian moving into that role, structuring the offense will become more of a focus.
