Oklahoma City made it a close game until the very end, but Minnesota picked up a 106-103 win over the Thunder on Friday night.
De’Angelo Russell made a 3-pointer with 2.9 seconds remaining that turned out to be the game-winner. Hamidou Diallo’s buzzer beating-attempt clanked off the front rim.
OKC was without the services of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (knee), Lu Dort (knee) and Theo Maledon (health and safety protocols), forcing Diallo into the point guard role for much of this game.
He recorded the first points-assists double-double of his career with 16 points and 10 dimes. His previous career high for assists was four.
Al Horford was also exceptional, playing arguably his best game in a Thunder uniform. He produced 26 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
OKC and Minnesota will run it back on Saturday night at The ‘Peake.
