Friday Bolts: 11.15.19
Paul George praises the Thunder in his article for The Player’s Tribune. “I genuinely, genuinely loved playing for those fans in Oklahoma City. Y’all were just so great to me, from the first time I stepped off that plane, literally. And I had a special bond with Russ that is really rare in this league. I loved my experience in OKC.”
Hamidou Diallo is dinged up, and Andre Roberson is now being held out of practice:
:(
Erik Horne (The Athletic) on the Thunder settling into the middle of the NBA pack.
Wosny Lambre (The Athletic) dropped Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to eighth, but has Chris Paul at the top of his style rankings for the week: “Paul didn’t stop at his Nipsey tribute, the future HOFer waltzed through Chesapeake Energy Arena dripped and draped in a posh Pyer Moss pinstriped jacket with a funky Ambush hoodie that evoked streetwear classic Miskeen, all while staying true to his early season dedication to remaining as cozy as possible in blue windbreaker pants. Paul may not be in the prime of his playing days anymore, but he’s as sharp as ever sartorially.”
Meanwhile Matt Barnes is trashing Paul’s look for Complex:
Duncan also touched on the Thunder’s season so far on a recent Dunc’d On episode.
Wholesome Thunder alert:
Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) reports the Blazers finally caved and acquired the forward not long for OKC. Unfortunately his last name is Anthony, not Gallinari.
ICYMI, Russell Westbrook isn’t done dismissing his opponents, especially not those who have robbed him of knee cartilage:
Ian Levy (Nylon Calculus) says that the Andrew Wiggins breakout has come as part of a team-wide shift in Minnesota: “So far this season 77 percent of Minnesota’s true shooting attempts have been at the rim, at the free-throw line or from behind the 3-point line. Last season, that mark was just 67.5 percent. It’s not just that the team is simply choosing to shoot from more generally efficient locations, the processes by which they’re getting those shots has changed.”
Color me skeptical that this lasts long enough for Wiggins to live up to that contract figure.
